ZION & LAS VEGAS
The car greeted us with a message this morning saying that our stabilization system needed service. We called On-Star who diagnosed the problem using the GPS and found that our anti-skid system was not working. Several hours later we pulled into a Cadillac service place and were told that they really did not know what was wrong but the car was probably safe to drive to California where we could have it serviced properly.
Zion National Park is another symphony in red sandstone but completely different than Bryce. We drove for miles through one canyon after another, each more spectacular than the previous one. In the middle of the park is a long tunnel (say almost a mile) that was built when cars were smaller and there were no trailers or RV's. You wind through this tunnel (unlit) in a conga-line going downhill seemingly forever. Interesting experience. After getting out of the Pak, we drove through more canyon land for miles. After a while the "wow" gets used up. I'll have to wait and see the pictures that Carol took every several feet or so.
We drove through desert (up to 110°) until we got to Las Vegas where it cooled off to a mere 107°. The traffic in the City was a zoo. Check-in was an assembly line. We decided not to go outside and walk but circled the hotel instead. We signed up for a nice room but they upgraded us. I have been in luxury rooms in my life but this is over the top. Three toilets! How many people do they expect in a two person room? The feature I have never seen before is a personal gym and sauna.
